Raf is a senior PhD Candidate in Climate Science and Climate Data at Columbia University with a strong background in data analysis. He uses machine learning and big data from remote sensing and climate models to study the impacts of climate change on glacier melting and sea level rise. He focuses on areas where local communities are at risk due to changing hydrological cycles. Raf analyzes data in Python, Matlab, and SQL and he enjoys creating clear and engaging data visualizations. He is also a climate modeler and a geospatial expert with experience in QGIS and ArcGIS. Raf has a strong academic background with a BSc in Physics from Eindhoven University of Technology, two MSc's in Climate and Geophysics from Utrecht University in the Netherlands, and an MA in Earth and Environmental Science from Columbia University, making him a perfect candidate for any project requiring analytical thinking and creative problem-solving. Raf is fluent in English and Dutch. He has also taken numerous courses relating to Renewable Energies, climate justice, and writing. Some of Raf's most notable achievements are his Fulbright Graduate Fellowship and numerous research grants. Raf enjoys the outdoors and spends a lot of his free time climbing, camping, and hiking.
