Matthew possesses comprehensive experience in the environmental consulting field, having spent eight months interning in two distinct roles focused on marine and terrestrial work. As part of his marine consulting internship, he applied his knowledge in chemistry and physics to work with a diverse range of clients, from local to multinational entities. In his terrestrial role, Matthew leveraged his skills in satellite imagery, acquired during his Master's research, and machine learning to generate a live map of Cape Town, showing changes in plant and land cover types over time. His repertoire also includes a stint with NOAA, USA's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, where he conducted frequent measurements on Atlantic crossings as a scientist aboard container ships. Now flourishing as a carbon analyst, Matthew takes pleasure in roles that make a positive, tangible impact. He is proficient in using satellite imagery and processing, data analysis, Python, MATLAB and R programming, as well as GIS. He is also well-versed in lab safety and techniques and has successfully completed several courses through Udemy and Coursera.
