Walter is a highly successful CFO based in Aalst, Europe (EU). He delivers strategic financial services and financial management support. He excels in start- and scale-up environments, addresses tight cash situations, mitigates risk and maximizes opportunity; his strategic focus makes him a true expert at improving financial visibility and facilitating critical decision-making. Walter most recently drove change in a company in Sweden performing circular activities, improving productivity, gross margin, EBITDA and overall profitability. He has also held CFO roles with an engineering-construction-trading company in South-East Asia, where he turned around a negative working capital situation and improved profit margins by 15%, and with a real-estate start-up in Europe (EU) where he led work to secure equity and debt funding. Prior to that, Walter held financial and executive leadership roles based in the Middle East. He overlooked, for a US engineering firm, operations in Africa, the Middle East, Caspian and West-Asia, and, for a Belgian construction firm, started operations in new countries and lead major joint ventures and start-ups. Walter volunteers with the Flemish Red Cross and has accepted pro bono leadership roles with two not-for-profit organizations in the sustainability field. Walter obtained his Master's in Business Economics from Vlaamse Ekonomische Hogeschool, Brussels, and is certified in Sustainability Strategies and the Circular Economy from the University of Cambridge and completed the Take the Lead in Sustainability Management with Vlerick Business School.
